FAQs
Allied Health Program/Coursed Offered
Where is the school located?
932 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, New York.
What are the coursed being offered?
The following programs are offered at NY Healthcare School:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Home Health Aide (HHA)
- Personal Care Aide (PCA)
- RN and LPN Board Preparation and Review
- Basic Life Support Training
What is the difference between the certifications offered (PCA, HHA, CNA)?
Home health aides (HHA) might be more suitable for patients with more complex needs, because HHAs have formal training, often from vocational schools or community colleges, and must then pass an evaluation from the state. Also, HHA’s assist patients with medication administration, with braces and artificial limbs, with skin care, and with dietary needs.
CNA differs significantly from a PCA or HHA in terms of the extensive training that must be completed. State laws typically require CNAs to receive training and certification from an authorized program, complete supervised clinical experiences, and pass a state examination. CNAs are certified to work in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and day care facilities, setting up drips and oxygen supplies, measuring vital signs, and observing patient changes.
